Email delivery error categories

When an email is not successfully delivered by Elastic Email it will be grouped into one of the following categories.  Below are descriptions of each category we currently support.

Ignore

The email was not delivered because the email address is currently in the "Bounce List".  Emails in the "Bounce List" are either hard failures or unsubscribes managed by our system.  If you feel this email should be delivered please go to the "Bounce List" tab and remove the email address from this list.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

Spam

The email was not delivered because the recipient server or user has flagged this email as spam.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled.  Ensure your emails are following the CAN-SPAM guidelines and see our Blog for topics on spam.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

BlackListed

The email was not delivered because the recipient server has detected the IP that this email was sent from is on a black list.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled.  Please notify us at http://support.elasticemail.com if you are seeing these types of errors so we can take the necessary steps to find out why the IP was blacklisted and to get it removed from the blacklist. Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

NoMailbox

The email was not delivered because the recipient server has determined that the mailbox does not exist on this domain.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled and will result in the email address being added to the "Bounce List" so please take the appropriate action.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

GreyListed

The email was not delivered because the recipient server has determined that this email has not been seen in the configuration provided (most often the combination of IP, From Email Address and Recipient Email Address - known as a "triplet") and has temporary rejected the email knowing that valid email will typically be retried.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically in a priority queue.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

Throttled

The email was not delivered because the recipient server is receiving too many emails from the from address and the particular IP in a short period of time.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically. Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

Timeout

The email was not delivered because a timeout occurred.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically.  Please see the detailed error message for more information.

ConnectionProblem

The email was not delivered because of a connection problem.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

SPFProblem

The email was not delivered because there was an issue validating the SPF record for the domain of this email.  Elastic Email requires you to validate your domain before it will send directly from that domain and not "on behalf" or "via" from our domain.  If you are seeing this scenario, the likely cause is that your SPF record was once valid and has since become invalid and Elastic Email doesn't know about it.  Email in this category are automatically rescheduled.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

AccountProblem

The email was not delivered as there was a problem with your Elastic Email account.  Your account may have been suspended or disabled for some reason during sending and this is why the email was not delivered.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled as some action is required on your account before sending can resume.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

DNSProblem

The email was not delivered because there was an issue with the recipients DNS.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

WhitelistingProblem

The email was not delivered because the recipient server requires a white listing of this IP to receive email from it.  Please contact us at http://support.elasticemail.com if you are seeing this type of error.  Emails in this category are automatically rescheduled.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

CodeError

The email was not delivered because there was an issue with the email being sent by our system.  Please notify us at http://support.elasticemail.com if you are seeing these types of errors so we can investigate.  Emails in this category are automatically rescheduled.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

ManualCancel

The email was not delivered because it was cancelled by an Elastic Email administrator.  Please contact us at http://support.elasticemail.com if you are not sure why you are seeing this message.  Emails in this category are not rescheduled.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.

Unknown

The email was not delivered because of an error that we have not categorized or seen.  Please contact us at http://support.elasticemail.com if you are not sure why you are seeing this message.  Emails in this category are rescheduled automatically.  Please see the detailed error message for more information about the specific email problem encountered.
