Balicasa Properties - a real estate agency in Bali

Balicasa Properties is a small, family-run real estate agency based in Bali. Founded in 2005, it is currently one of the oldest operating agencies in the region. The company consists of Robert, who primarily manages Western clients, and his wife, Anna, who takes care of Asian clients. They specialize in real estate listings across Bali, Java, and other islands.

Importance of email communication

Email communication for Balicasa Properties is a vital tool for driving traffic and generating leads for the agency. Robert noted that promoting listings on international marketplaces became too expensive. It lead them to leverage the large database of email addresses they had built over the years. Newsletters serve Balicasa Properties to drive traffic to their website. Clicks in emails help listings get indexed by Google more easily, which ultimately results in leads and sales. On days when Robert sends a newsletter, he observes a significant spike in global website visitors. It proves his email marketing efforts really work.

Discovery and selection of Elastic Email

Robert decided to switch to Elastic Email when searching for a more budget-friendly alternative to their previous provider - Mailchimp. Balicasa Properties used Mailchimp, but found that the rising prices were no longer sustainable for a small business with a limited marketing budget. Robert discovered Elastic Email through the internet while looking for a more affordable service. His main decision factor was, of course, the very attractive price of Elastic Email. But, he also notices that the interface and way of working with templates were very similar to Mailchimp. It made the transition easy.

As mentioned before, the price was the first thing that caught my eye. And after noticing that the way of working was similar to Mailchimp, we made the step to choose Elastic Email.

Using Elastic Email in practice

Balicasa Properties uses Elastic Email to send its newsletters when there are new property listings or updates regarding island attractions and general information. Robert limits communications to approximately two newsletters per month to avoid annoying subscribers and to ensure high open rates.  

In the beginning, Robert made a new campaign every time, but now, with the help of the Elastic Email customer support team, he created a custom-made campaign he uses every time. He keeps that one as his email template and just adds the text and pictures in the newsletter. Because he uses a pre-set custom template, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to prepare an attractive newsletter once the text and images are ready. Once the campaign is sent, Robert always checks the activity page to monitor the campaign results.

The platform is easy to work with. I usually prepare my text and pictures, and once I want to make my newsletter, it only takes 10 or 15 minutes to prepare a full, colored newsletter, ready to send.
