Clarivo Digital - a web development company

Clarivo Digital is a marketing agency focusing mostly on building and managing WordPress sites for small businesses. Not only does it build websites, but it also handles maintenance and hosting for its clients. We spoke to Kristof, the owner of Clarivo Digital, and as he says about himself, he handles the business side but is very hands-on with the development and server management as well.

Email as an important means of communication

Kristof admitted that email is an extremely important communication channel for the websites his company manages. They use it for password resets, order confirmations, or monthly newsletters. In other words, email is the link between the websites and their users. Kristof makes sure everything works perfectly 100% of the time.

Elastic Email - Clarivo Digital’s choice for email delivery

Clarivo Digital needed a reliable alternative to the standard PHP mail function, offering an SMTP service that was friendly for agencies. Kristof was specifically looking for a service to solve the deliverability issues his clients were experiencing with various hosting providers.

The company ultimately chose Elastic Email over major competitors like SendGrid and Mailgun due to a combination of technical features and transparent pricing. Kristof wanted to find a solution with convenient reseller features. While other platforms felt overly complicated for a reseller model, Elastic Email offered the perfect balance of cost and utility.

Elastic Email made that easy to understand, and the pricing was reasonable enough for me to test it out without a huge commitment.” - Kristof, owner of Clarivo Digital

There were several key factors that influenced Kristof's decision, including subaccount management. He praised the fact that he could manage his own email but also create separate environments for each new client. It ensured that the one client’s actions do not negatively impact another’s sender reputation. Another thing he liked about Elastic Email is its straightforward setup, as the platform is easy to understand and quick to implement via DNS records and plugins. The interface is intuitive, and it allows Kristof to find the necessary settings quickly without spending excessive time navigating menus.

The main thing was the subaccount feature. I needed a way to manage my own email but also create separate environments for my clients so they wouldn't mess up each other's sender reputation. Elastic Email made that easy to understand, and the pricing was reasonable enough for me to test it out without a huge commitment.”

The ultimate test of whether Clarivo Digital wanted to stay with Elastic Email was the deliverability evaluation. Kristof soon found out that once Elastic Email was active, emails stopped falling into spam folders.

Using Elastic Email in practice

Kristof uses Elastic Email to run in the background of Clarivo Digital’s operations. When the company has a new client to launch a site for, Kristof connects it to a new Elastic Email subaccount. Currently, there are 2-3 clients who are heavy users and send about 10-20,000 emails a month altogether. Kristof logs into the Elastic Email dashboard to check on their credits and email logs to see why a specific email bounced so that he can troubleshoot it instantly. But, as he admits, using Elastic Email gives him a “peace of mind”, knowing that the client’s server IP won’t be blacklisted by someone else’s action, as the email sending and website hosting are separated.

My support tickets regarding "missing emails" basically dropped to zero. Before this, I wasted a lot of time troubleshooting why a client didn't get a contact form notification. Now, if there is an issue, I can see exactly why it happened in the logs. That time saved is the biggest result for me.”

Clarivo Digital case study - conclusion

For Clarivo Digital, the shift to a dedicated email infrastructure was more than just a technical upgrade. Choosing Elastic Email was a strategic move that redefined their operational efficiency. By moving away from the limitations of shared hosting and the standard PHP mail function, the agency successfully secured a stable future for its clients' communications. When asked for his advice to other agencies facing similar hurdles, Kristof’s recommendation was clear: “I’d tell them to go for it. If you are managing multiple websites, it’s a no-brainer. It’s cheaper than a lot of the competition, the deliverability is solid, and it keeps your clients organized. It saves you from the headache of dealing with spam filters on your own”.
As this success story demonstrates, choosing the right email delivery platform allows an agency to stop fighting spam filters and start focusing on what they do best: building and maintaining high-quality websites for their clients.
