Elastic Email vs Constant Contact: Which Email Marketing Platform Fits You in 2026?

by Ula Chwesiuk | Oct 26, 2026

Choosing an email marketing platform is easy when your list is small. The hard part comes later, when your audience grows and your monthly bill grows with it, or when you realize you need a feature your current plan doesn't include.

That's the point where many small businesses, nonprofits and creators start comparing Constant Contact with alternatives like Elastic Email. Both platforms cover the essentials: a drag-and-drop editor, automation, segmentation, landing pages and signup forms. Where they differ is in pricing, plan limits and what each one offers beyond email.

In this article, we compare Elastic Email Marketing vs. Constant Contact side by side. We look at pricing at different list sizes, plan limits, core features, deliverability tools, and support.

TL;DR

TL;DR: Elastic Email and Constant Contact both cover the email marketing basics: drag-and-drop editor, automation, segmentation, landing pages, and signup forms. Elastic Email costs less as your list grows, has a free plan, and includes an Email API and SMTP relay for transactional email. Constant Contact costs more per contact but bundles extras for small local businesses, like event registration, social posting, and SMS on its Premium plan. Choose Elastic Email if you want lower costs, room to scale, or marketing and transactional email in one account. Choose Constant Contact if you run events and want phone coaching in an all-in-one tool.

Hidden costs to watch

  • Constant Contact: inbox previews cost an extra $10/month, and bounced addresses count toward your contact limit until you remove them.
  • Elastic Email: a dedicated IP is a paid add-on. Most senders on shared infrastructure won't need one, but high-volume senders may want it.

Elastic Email vs Constant Contact - features compared

Both platforms handle everyday email marketing well. The difference is what each adds on top. Elastic Email adds monetization and developer tools, while Constant Contact adds events, social, and SMS.

Email editor and templates

Both tools offer a drag-and-drop editor and a template library, so you can build campaigns without code. Elastic Email’s Email Designer is on every plan, including Free, and comes with an AI Template Designer that allows you to build email templates from scratch using prompts. You can later on edit the generated template with further prompts or switch to the drag-and-drop editor and change the layout manually. You can also enjoy a free template gallery full of ready-made layouts you can choose and customize. In turn, Constant Contact includes an AI copy generator, but from the Lite plan on, and an AI campaign builder from Standard.

Automation and segmentation

Both platforms gate automation by plan. Elastic Email includes one automation on the Free and Starter plans, and Pro unlocks unlimited automation sequences. Constant Contact gives you one automation template on Lite, three on Standard, and unlimited on Premium.

Segmentation follows a similar pattern on Constant Contact: one custom segment on Lite, 10 on Standard, and unlimited on Premium. Elastic Email includes segmentation on all plans, including Free. A/B testing is available on Elastic Email, while Constant Contact offers subject line A/B tests from Standard.

Landing pages and signup forms

Elastic Email's Landing Page Editor uses the same drag-and-drop approach. You can start from a template or a blank page, and add one or more signup forms as blocks. Pages are hosted on a myelasticemail.com subdomain that you can customize, and you can set the thumbnail, title, and description people see when the page is shared on social media.

Constant Contact offers two kinds of landing pages: signup landing pages for collecting contacts, and custom landing pages for broader promotions. Each page gets its own URL on a Constant Contact domain, and new signups can go to specific contact lists.

Monetization: paid newsletters and checkouts

This is where Elastic Email stands apart. On the Pro plan, you can run Paid Newsletters with members-only content behind a subscription, and sell digital products with Checkouts, using secure payments through Stripe. Constant Contact doesn't offer a built-in equivalent.

Developer tools: Email API, SMTP relay and webhooks

Elastic Email includes its Email API and SMTP relay from the Starter plan, with libraries and documentation for 12 programming languages, plus webhooks and custom rDNS. That means you can send marketing campaigns and transactional emails (receipts, password resets, notifications) from one account. Constant Contact is built for marketing campaigns and isn't designed for transactional sending.

Deliverability and sending infrastructure

Elastic Email gives you more direct control over your sending setup, while Constant Contact manages most of it for you.

Good deliverability starts with authentication. You'll want SPF, DKIM, and DMARC set up for your sending domain on either platform. Beyond that, Elastic Email gives you tools usually found in developer-focused email services:

  • Dedicated IPs as an add-on, if you send high volumes and want full control of your sender reputation
  • Email verification on every plan, to catch invalid addresses before they bounce
  • Contact pruning to keep inactive contacts from dragging down engagement

Constant Contact handles sending infrastructure behind the scenes, which suits teams that don't want to manage it. Keep in mind that bounced addresses count toward your contact limit, so regular list cleaning matters for both deliverability and cost.

Ease of use and support

Constant Contact offers more hands-on, phone-based help during US business hours. Elastic Email offers round-the-clock email and chat support.

Constant Contact is known for beginner-friendly onboarding. Its support includes phone (Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm ET, Saturday 10am - 6pm ET), live chat (Monday to Friday 3am - 8pm ET), one-on-one help from trainers, and a 24/7 knowledge base. Premium plans add dedicated priority support.

Elastic Email provides 24/7 email and chat support for all customers, along with a help center and API documentation. Its interface covers both marketing and developer tools, so teams that only need newsletters may spend a little more time finding their way around at first.
